When you hear the word 'style' what comes to mind?

When I hear the word "style" what comes to mind is creativity. I don't mind following trends but it's when one incorporates their unique aura into their appearance that sets them apart from "the norm" so to speak *smiles*....

How important would you say having a distinct style is?

Having a distinct style is really not on my "to-do" list. For instance I wore this purple wrap around garment that's meant to be a long skirt as a cute upper-body garment cover-up and someone complimented it. "Adanze, girrrrrrrrrl you need to tell me how you wrapped that around so cute like that"...the better thing about it is that I had the matching purple headwrap (the kind that Musiq Soulchild used to sport ). So in essence, I don't make it a mission to be stand-outish or whatever...an idea pops into my head and I go for it *smiles*...

How much of Nigerian culture would you say you incorporate into your basic style? Until my brother ripped it when were fighting, I owned a necklace and matching bracelet that I bought during my stay in Nigeria ( Orlu Town representin' )...it was like a choker necklace and I sported it almost everyday to school...you know like how Samoans be doin' they representin' thang out here...I felt compelled to as well...but however it's not so much as sportin' during everyday wear...I represent at home too...I have a T shirt of my late grandfather pinned to my wall in my dorm room and at home, and I have a sculpture sitting on my desk and soon as my dad mails it to me, a huge Nigerian flag will be pinned on my wall too.......anybody who passes my dorm room when my door is open won't be caught slippin', na'mean???

How would you describe how much you spend on clothing, accessories, grooming, and other items that you incorporate to get your style??? *Laughs*...This is why my dad constantly pierces my ear about my bank statements. "You ah not working, ahnd you go to school" is what he always tells me. Anywho, minimum is $300 every time....and it's in this particular order:
shoes-first
find a matching outfit
if needed, a belt
if needed, mos def some matching earrings
nothing really for my hair because I wear it down all the time anyway...

What are your influences on your general style? My influences on general style come from magazines, pictures, etc. I'm laid back when it comes to my everyday regular style so I'm constantly looking through my brother's eastbay catalogs for sneakers (i.e. airforce 1's, tim's, diesels, chucks ), like right now I might have to actually order the Lebron James shoes online cuz I kain't find 'em in my size in the stores ( I hate that -ish ). I also search mags for a nice pair of jeans and tops and at most viewing other people and their outfits while saying to myself "Oh them jeans will prol'ly look bomb with them shoes I bought" *smiles*...

Do you have any fashion 'secrets' or tips that you apply to yourself? What is it? Well, it's not a secret that ppl should match...be color coordinated. Also, unless you're attending some upscale, elite function, ppl look so mundane wearing all one color. Throw in a belt, matching shoes and if applicable a matching purse that also all match of another color to offset the boring color scheme of your one solid color outfit...as far as hairstyle goes...I wear my hair down no matter what and it's black...won't change styles anytime soon so I have no secrets there...*smiles*

State a quote that you think describes or applies to your general style. "Just Do It"
-Nike

What kind of music do you listen to? *Laughs*...awww man, I get this question asked to me toooo many times...I'm very picky about the type of music I listen to....here goes...take rap for instance. I listen to rap but not as much as your "usual, typical" rap lover ( I apologize about the word usage there ). I could purchase a Dre CD but not get Snoop's...I'll get 50's but not Ja Rule...I could get DJ Quik or Suga Free but not Redman's...last CD I bought was Twista....*switch*....I loooooooooove RnB; and I'm extremely picky about that as well cuz you have ppl out there abusing the art of the genre anyway. I'm not spendin' money on things like "Lemme take your panties off and lets do it in the telephone booth" type mess...No way!!...Carl Thomas, Tamia, Ruben Studdard, The O'Jays, The Isley Brothers and the like...YUP!!!...I also listen to contemporary Jazz..Norman Brown, Boney James, Gerald Albright...then there's Neo-Soul; Floetry, Musiq, Vivian Green, Goapele...Makossa music ( magic system ), Ragga Dancehall ( T.O.K., Assassin and 'em ) There you have it...

If you got to pick ONE decade you'd like to go back into style, which would it be?? If I got to pick a decade to go back in style it would be most def the 70's.

Where do you feel most comfortable? I feel most comfortable at home on tha P-block and at school...like I mentioned before, I'm laid back and practical about myself at both places...jeans, top/sweater/tee, jacket/no jacket, and some sneakers...and I can be myself....clown around, get loud, laugh as much as I want to...going out I'm still as relaxed and shit but at this time, I have to be a lady with mine....

When it comes to your style, how do you want others to perceive you? When it comes to style, I want others to perceive me as "proper". There's a time and place for everything. When it comes to school, I can't stress enough that I'm laid back and comfortable. Jeans, cute top, sneakers, medium to small loop earrings, my eyeglasses, and my hair down. You won't catch me around campus with heels. What for??..that ain't me...I'm at school to walk from one building to the next...what I look like running to class all ghetto-fabulous in stilettos and a dress?..although I tip my hat off to those who do..but I can't...when I go to school, I gets down to business...Fri/Sat, I get all spruced up for whatever, na'h mean???...

How often do you dress in traditional Nigerian attires?? Well I only have 4 traditional attires, but I'll be getting some more made when I get back to Los Angeles. So far I have a white up and down Aso Oke with a pink shawl and no headtie that I wore for my Sacrament of First Holy Communion...a one piece Buba that I wore to my uncle's wedding in Nigeria, another lace Aso Oke worn for my rite-of-passage party decked with my headtie ( weren't you there nkoli?? Ozo, Adaku, me and Shalonda were being honored ) and another turquoise Aso Oke with Buba and wrappa....I generally wear them for real special traditional occasions, such as the baptism/christening of my godson, or for our town's fundraising convention...only the best aristocractic occasions get to see me wear traditional attire...*smiles*....

Which Stylish celebrity would be your ideal date? The Stylish celeb that I would love to have on an ideal dat would be Usher ( or Ursher the way Lil' John and LudaChris say it ). Man I love the way he styles. Take for instance his latest video. The way he sports those blazers with jeans, sneakers and a fitted cap...that
-ish is tyte, yo!!!..not that typical white collar-mess with those jackets he was wearing...did you also see the episode of Punk'd when he was on it???...on a regular day he's not all blinged out na'h mean....just your everyday dude not tryna draw attention to himself...noiiice!!!!....

What is your favorite Nigerian/African look or outfit?

My absolute favorite Nigerian/African look or outfit is the one piece Aso Oke with just the Buba or the three-piece Aso Oke with Buba, wrappa and head tie. If you find the right person to make them for you, it's the most beautiful piece of traditional attire anyone can wear.

What was the last addition to your wardrobe? The last addition to my wardrobe was another crisp white pair of airforce's....the old one's I'll use to play around and kick it in...

How do you usually wear your hair? I can't stress enough that I only wear my hair in one style....straight down, with bangs...it's easier that way; easy to maintain, easy to wrap it up at night....my friend asks, "How come you never curl your hair, or wear it up??"....man please, too much wahala standing there with a curling iron to my hair...it's enough trouble getting it done every week... last time I curled it and wore it all up was my auntie's wedding/NRC reunion weekend last year....

What best describes the piercings and/or tattoos a person will see on a first date with you? Well I have no tatty's...too chicken to get those, although if I did want one, it would be a something cute on my foot..like a dove or a halo...I have piercings though, I wear a tiny loop on each ear grisel( the top part of the ear), and I have a nose ring...YUP!!!, a nice small-ass gold crownring that sits on my right nostril...used to have a tongue ring but that was 2 years ago...anyway, a person a first date with me will know that I'm subtle with mine....except for the nose ring, I'm not all flashy with my piercings...as sad as it is, there are stereotypes about ppl with certain piercings or so many tattoos or whatever and don't be surprised that I don't fit into 'em...*smiles*....

Where would you go for an ideal date? I have 4 full tapes of recorded episodes of Martin, and DVD's of comedy specials...so that tells you that I looooove to laugh and once you get to know me, I'm extremely goofy and mischievous. My ideal date will not be your usual dinner and a movie.....man please, hella boring....take me to a comedy club or someplace to break the ice, have fun and laugh.... i.e. Chuck E. Cheese, Dave and Buster's, Disneyland or places I've never been to before like Six Flags, a bowling alley, Medieval Times Tournament, or something as simple as a coffee house lounge with Open Mic Spoken Word....then later when we're all comfortable with one another bring it up a notch with the 5-star restaurants and shit....*smiles*.

You're on a date with a guy nine inches taller than you. What sort of shoes do you wear? Inches shorter, what do you wear?

I'm 5'7'' so if he's nine inches taller, with a thick-build body frame, oooooooohweee, that's sexy right thurr...LMAO!!! on da real...well, what type of shoes I wear depends on what type of date it is, na' mean???....and it pro'ly wouldn't matter anyways cuz our height difference wouldn't be awkward you feel me???....awww, we'll be such a cute couple...*smiles*....
okay now you mentioned "inches shorter"....well if you knew how picky I am, then this question wouldn't even be thought of...."sorry bruh, but you gotta be a 6'2'' minimum for me to even look twice at you, yet alone go out on a date"....*smiles*....

PS...no condensing my answers...me wan see efri word dia, abi???....lol....

Big-Ups for selecting me....*smiles*
